Jacqueline Orange, The Orange Zone, LLC
A native of Chicago, Jacqueline Orange earned a BS in Industrial Psychology from Chicago State University. She continued her career in finance after relocating with BankOne to Washington DC in 2000, where she purchased her first property. In 2002, she moved to New York with the bank for an additional five years, ultimately transitioning to JP Morgan Chase Bank. Concurrently, she managed her four-unit dwelling in Washington DC, providing apartments for college students, healthcare workers, and other short-term professional renters.
Two years later, Jacqueline initiated a for-profit and later a non-profit hospitality tourism business in New York—Taste Harlem Food & Cultural Tours and ArtCrawl Harlem, respectively. Taste Harlem Food & Cultural Tours continues to provide food and cultural tours, exploring the rich legacy of Harlem, while ArtCrawl Harlem focuses on tourist and local experiences in the visual and performing arts. Orange stepped down as President of ArtCrawl Harlem in 2021. The organization, which she co-founded with gallerist Averlyn Archer, continues to operate under new leadership. For over two decades in New York, Orange also managed numerous guest houses and AirBnB locations in Harlem, assisting property owners with bookings, hospitality, and property maintenance.
The COVID-19 pandemic presented challenges in 2020 for the tourism industry, affecting all aspects of Jacqueline’s entrepreneurship, leading her to decide to put her DC property on the market after 20 years of ownership. The building was sold in 2021, and she redirected her investments to Chicago, her hometown. Since returning to the Chicago market, she has purchased and sold a single-family home in Kenwood and has become a multi-family property owner and operator on Chicago’s Southside. Jacqueline Orange still maintains connections in New York, where she serves on the Harlem Tourism Board. She enjoys reconnecting with family in Chicago and exploring bike trails around the city with her young cousins.
